Beware Unrealistic Mobility Expectations for Elders

Mobility impairment in elderly individuals can be deceptive to non-caregivers. Some elders are mobile at home and short distances. Non-caregivers may only see the elder’s mobility.

When Mom’s sibling died, I called to let others know that Mom would not attend the funeral for medical reasons. A non-relative asked me, “Well, can’t she walk?”

Sometimes I think that in an ideal world, there would be a place for everything and I would put everything back in that place. Great idea and it works often, but not often enough. With our busy schedules, sometimes we do not take the time. I know I don’t and I am quite the detail person, more often than not.

Nursing Homes Supplement Family Care
