The Week 4 Winner of our Share Why You Care Contest is Judy. B of of Leesburg, Florida, for her story, “Shower of Blessing.”

Judy writes about being a caregiver for her mother-in-law, who suffers from declining health and Alzheimer’s, with its companions such as anger and profanity. The reference to a shower has a deep meaning; Judy describes having an awakening to her blessings while helping her mother-in-law bathe. While giving her mother-in-law a shower, despite her resistance and cussing, Judy went through many emotions, including anger, stress, resentment and exhaustion — but in the end she felt grateful for being showered with blessings. This experience helps her through the difficult times in caregiving, and she offers her story in the hope that it could help others.
