A federal website, managed by the US Department of Health & Human Services (HHS), is aimed at helping to educate health care consumers. Healthcare.gov can help seniors or their caregivers “explore public and private coverage options, learn about care quality, and understand how the new Affordable Care Act laws will affect you and your family.”
Health care information organized in one place
Keeping track of all the changes occurring in health care laws is difficult at best. With mounting legal challenges, the future of health care laws and treatment options are still to be decided. It certainly pays for health care consumers to be diligent and pay attention to the changes on the horizon.
But how do we keep up?
Although healthcare.gov won’t answer every question that you may have about health care options, it can be a great starting point. When used in conjunction with Medicare.gov, you should be able to find substantial information to help answer your questions.
With the newly updated Healthcare.gov, HHS has demonstrated its commitment to helping the general public understand the different health care options (as they currently exist) and what they may look like in the future.
Overview of Healthcare.gov
When you log into Healthcare.gov, you can do the following:
- Explore coverage and pricing options by state
- Explore insurance options
- Learn methods of disease prevention
- Compare hospitals, nursing homes, in-home care and dialysis centers
- Find information organized by age and need
- Understand health care provisions and the law
Also, on healthcare.gov, you’ll find a regularly updated blog, plus sections on partnerships that benefit patients, information on women and the affordable care act, pre-existing condition insurance plans, small business tax credits and tips for seniors and Medicare recipients. If you like video tours that help explain how a website works, this video tour will be good news to you. The site also has a newsroom and offers e-mail updates to those who sign up for them.
Anytime I can get a guided tour through health care options, I’m a happy camper. There’s a lot of confusion about what is, and what isn’t, signed into law now. Give healthcare.gov a try.
Maybe it will help you figure out your next step in health care coverage.
