Welcome to the ElderCarelink blogs

by Kathryn Kilpatrick, M.A. CCC/SLP
Looking forward to being a part of the ElderCarelink blogging community. My name is Kathryn and I have had the opportunity to work closely with older adults, their families and caregivers as a speech and language pathologist for 4 decades now. These experiences have blessed me with many insights, lessons and wisdom that I would like to share with you. This seems like the perfect next step!

It is the decades of therapy and consulting that led to the creation of many products to enhance communication and connection and my role as a trainer and motivational speaker. I might also add that in many ways it was my dear mom who gave me my honorary “PhD.” Through the last decade of her life she had some challenges with hearing, vision, speech and memory loss. We created some very special memories during those years, and helping others to walk a journey with a loved one while meeting them where they are is the perspective I hope to bring to you through my articles and blogs.

I hope that you will find some helpful ideas and that you will be inspired to share with me and others what has helped you on your journey.

Many blessings,
Kathryn

  1. Hi, Kathryn! I really appreciate your mentioning carers meeting our loved ones “where they are.” That says it all for me. I’m looking forward to your contributions.
